Classes

Marcie teaches kids interested in playing tenor or bass ages 8-18.

For private Lessons with Marcie MacRae: lessons would be located in Edmonds, WA.  Cost is $30 per hour, they are scheduled on an every two weeks schedule in the evenings Monday through Wednesday.  Please contact her to set up times for lessons.  For group beginner lessons see below.

NWJPB Pipe Band Kids & Mid-Section

Information & Scheduling

Junior Tenor*

1)     PBK Beginner Tenor – 20 week program

Thursdays 6.00-6.30pm

10-11 season starts 10/7/10

Junior Bass*

1)     PBK Beginner Bass – 20 week program

Thursdays 5.30-6.00pm

10-11 season starts 10/7/10

In case of cancellation by instructor an alternate time will be set up to cover that day’s lesson as to not get off schedule.  In case of absence by student you may make up the lesson in a private lesson to be scheduled with the instructor at Private Lesson costs.

* All beginner lessons are paid to NWJPB monthly.  Instructor reports number of lessons and amount owed per student to NWJPB at the end of the month. Lessons are $50 per month for half hour ($10 per lesson plus $10 per month) $70 per month for an hour ($15 per lesson plus $10 per month). Monthly payments will vary depending on the month.

Grade 5.5 NWJPB (takes place of intermediate/advanced class)

This is practice for those who are not in a grade 5/4 band to work on and memorize pre-reqs for auditions.

            Thursdays 5.30-6.30pm

10-11 season starts 10/7/10

1)     Must have been through Beginner (or equivalent) courses.

Grade 5 NWJPB

1)     Must have “Scotland the Brave”, 2 4, 3 4, and 6 8 Massed Band Marches memorized

2)     Must have been through Beginner (or equivalent) courses.

3)     Audition for Mid-Section Director. Auditions will be a review of students playing on time, with the bass drummer or metronome, knowing their own parts, basic flourishes and brush of the drum. 

4)     Promotions are in January.

Grade 4 NWJPB

1)     Must meet Grade 5 pre-requisitions,

2)     Must have the 4 4, Jigs, 9 8 and current show tunes memorized

3)     Be in or through Intermediate and Advanced (or equivalent) and

4)     Audition for Mid-Section Director. Auditions will be a review of students playing on time, with the bass drummer or metronome, knowing their own parts, basic flourishes and brush of the drum. 

5)     Promotions are in January.

Grade 3 NWJPB/WSPB Joint Band

1)     Must meet Grade 4 pre-requisitions,

2)     Promoted by Leadership

Alumni/Adult Grade 3 –

1)     Must be over 18 and not eligible to play in the junior band. 

2)     If under 18 and rated at the Professional Level in individual competition you may petition Band leadership to be in the Grade 3 band. 

3)     Both Board and Musical leadership of Grade 3 and NWJPB must agree on promotion before promotion will be granted.

Mid-Section Practice Breakdown

Practices for the 2010-2011 year are:

  • Sundays
    • Grade 3 alumni: 12-2pm
    • Grade 4: 2-4 pm
    • Grade 5: 3-5 pm
    • Grade 3: 4-6 pm
  • Thursdays
    • Grades 3-5: 6.30-8.30pm
    • Grade 5.5 and PBK: 5.30-6.30pm

  • 1st half hour – show music
